A Judge, in Boston, has ruled that the amount a federal jury ordered Joel Tenebaum to pay was unconstitutionally excessive. The jury last July has enter a verdict for four record labels in the amount of $675,000 for file-sharing music. Joel was found guilty of downloading 30 songs illegally and sharing them on-line. The Boston Judge yesterday has reduced the award to $67,500 (10% of Original Amount) stating that Joel has creating minor damage to the record labels. This case by the record labels is only the second case in 10 years in the nation to go to a federal court. As the first case the record labels was awarding $1.9 million, later reduced to a settled amount of $25,000. The latest judges decision sends a blow to the record label with possible future damage if this case is reduced again. What do you think of this case is the record labels seeking excessive amounts?
